A neoplasm is an abnormal growth of cells in the body that forms a lump or mass, often called a tumor. Neoplasms can be benign (not cancerous) or malignant (cancerous), and doctors study them to understand how they affect health. In medicine, the term neoplasm is used to describe conditions that may need monitoring, surgery, or other treatments depending on their type.
